About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Alana and I am getting ready to graduate from the University of Arizona and begin my teaching career. I got lucky and found a job in Phoenix teaching my favorite grade, first grade. I'm looking forward to, and am a little terrified of what will happen in this first year. I've heard that I will cry more than I will sleep in this year but I'm hoping to challenge that and make it a great and enjoyable year.

I decided to start a blog after following a number of blogs where everything goes well for some amazing veteran teachers and seeing incredible teachers in the classroom. But everyone has to start somewhere so I wanted to give an idea of what it's like for a brand new, first year teacher. I just signed a contract so I'll be going from there, to setting up a room, orientations, The First Day, to everything else that's going to happen.

I believe students need to experience to learn and at time that can mean my room get a little chaotic with kids moving around and working on different projects. I love first grade and am so excited for this year!

  1. Hi
I am so excited for you.
Do you have your keys yet? Are you still doing a crayon theme?

  2. I'm getting very excited too!! I don't have my keys yet because they needed to deep clean my room still so I get them next week when I move. And yes I am still doing a crayon theme, I haven't had much time to make anything yet but I'm going to once I get to Phoenix. I also am using a clip chart and my lead thought it was a great idea so she is going to use one too.
